ABOUT BARBARA

My name is Barbara and I still remember making photographs in film at the ripe age of 8! Yes you heard right…my mother was a portrait photographer in Cuba and as soon as she could get her hands on a collection of Kodak film cameras here in the U.S., she snapped away often and taught me along the way. I was fortunate to have such a wonderful source of inspiration and photo education, as well as a beautiful model to photograph as my mother was also a stunning model and performer! I cherish the many photos I took of my mother and still have many 5×5’s. In Junior High School, the spark was reborn when I volunteered as the Yearbook and Staff Photographer. I continued thereafter to photograph the schools sports teams, yearbook, the faculty and continued there on into my early adult years as a Photojournalist for a local Spanish-Speaking publication in the San Francisco’s Mission District.

I am passionate about photography but what ignites my vision and my passion is my interaction with subjects. I am thrilled and honored when called to share in intimate events of a family be it weddings, portraits, or other milestone events. As one of my photography mentors once said “there is no such thing as a perfect picture, only a perfect moment!” I believe this whole heartedly! Your photographs are heirlooms and my goal is to document it as a beautiful time and place in your families lives. Thank you for inviting me to share in making those moments into photographs for you.
